Foreign Investors’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) has proposed establishing a dedicated office to manage intellectual property (IP) rights, including copyright, trademarks, patents, and geographical indications. This recommendation was made during a meeting between a FICCI delegation, led by President Zaved Akhtar, and Adilur Rahman Khan, adviser to the industries ministry in Dhaka. The meeting focused on collaborative strategies to address industrial challenges and boost growth in Bangladesh.

Both parties discussed short- and mid-term solutions, with IP rights being a key topic. The industries adviser praised FICCI’s proactive role and emphasized the importance of private sector involvement in optimizing state-owned industrial parks. Cooperation between the private and public sectors was seen as crucial for fostering industrial growth.

The meeting was attended by high-ranking officials, including senior secretary Zakia Sultana, and FICCI Board Directors. FICCI, representing multinational companies in Bangladesh, highlighted its significant contributions to the country’s economic growth and development.
