Bangladesh witnessed 20% more FDI in 2022 reached 3 and a half billion

An UN report said that Bangladesh had been able to receive 3.48 billion USD on foreign direct investment in year 2022 which is 20% up from previous year where it had received 2.89 billion USD. In overall situation, FDI declined by 16% to 22 billion USD in least development countries (LDCs), according to UNCTAD report.

The top five FDI recipient countries are Ethiopia, Cambodia, Bangladesh, Senegal and Mozambique where about 70% FDI accounted out of total.

Outward foreign investment, however, declined by 43% to 53 million USD in 2022 in compare with 92 million USD in 2021. According to world investment report 2023 from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) which was published in 5th July, 2023.

In South Asia, FDI flows to India rose by 10% to 49 billion USD as the country became the third largest host country in terms of green field project announcements and the second largest for international project finance deals.

FDI remained flat at 662 billion USD in 2022 for the developing countries, about half of global inflows. Inflows were concentrated mostly in five economies-China, Singapore, Hong Kong, India and UAE.
