Global Sourcing Expo 2025 boosts Bangladesh’s push for export diversification

Global Sourcing Expo 2025 Dhaka, launched as Bangladesh prepares to graduate from LDC status, is being hailed as a key milestone for driving export diversification and long-term competitiveness.
Speaking at the inauguration at the Bangladesh–China Friendship Exhibition Centre, Commerce Adviser Sk. Bashir Uddin said the expo comes at a “strategic moment” as Bangladesh begins losing preferential market benefits and must broaden its export base beyond ready-made garments.
The three-day event (1–3 December) features nearly 200 Bangladeshi companies across eight major sectors — including Apparel, leather goods, jute, agro products, pharmaceuticals, ICT, and home décor — with strong participation from international buyers and investors from more than 10 countries.
Organised by the Export Promotion Bureau and the Ministry of Commerce, the expo aims to secure long-term partnerships, strengthen Bangladesh’s global sourcing reputation, and accelerate diversification beyond its traditional RMG reliance.
Experts note that meaningful progress will depend on meeting global standards in quality, compliance, and supply-chain resilience, especially in non-RMG sectors. The expo is seen as a test of Bangladesh’s ability to build a more resilient and sustainable export ecosystem in the post-LDC era.
