Urgent need for AI adoption in Bangladesh’s BPO sector

Experts at the BPO Summit Bangladesh 2025 warned that Bangladeshi BPO companies risk falling behind globally if they fail to adopt technologies like AI, machine learning, and large language models. Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, special assistant to the chief adviser, stressed that recent technological advancements demand urgent adaptation. Without embracing innovation, especially in IT and IT-enabled services, companies may not survive the next two years.
Held at Senaprangan, Dhaka, the summit was themed “BPO 2.0: Revolution to Innovation” and emphasized innovation-driven growth. Taiyeb urged local firms to study how countries like China, India, Vietnam, and the Philippines are leveraging AI, and to align policies accordingly. He noted that Bangladesh must rapidly scale IT exports from the current $700–800 million to meet its $5 billion goal by 2030.
Taiyeb proposed targeted export incentives—higher for frontier tech and moderate for legacy services. He predicted legacy call centers would soon be replaced by AI-powered models.
BACCO President Tanvir Ibrahim and government adviser Adilur Rahman Khan highlighted the sector’s role in job creation and national development. The summit features global participation, showcasing cutting-edge tech like Starlink, AR/VR, drones, and robotics, aiming to inspire youth and drive digital transformation.
