Abdul Hamid Pintu takes charge as BGBA president for 2026–28 term

Bangladesh Garment Buying House Association (BGBA) has welcomed its newly elected leadership, with Md. Abdul Hamid Pintu officially assuming office as president for the 2026–2028 term.

The formal handover ceremony took place at Uttara Club in Dhaka, where immediate past president Mohammad Pabel and the outgoing committee transferred responsibilities to Pintu and the newly elected board of directors.

The event was attended by several prominent figures from Bangladesh’s apparel industry, including former Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) president Faruque Hassan, BGMEA Vice President (Finance) Mijanur Rahman, and BGMEA Director Shah Rayeed Chowdhury, who spoke at the program and extended their support to the new leadership.

Speaking on the occasion, President Abdul Hamid Pintu said the new board would focus on addressing the emerging challenges facing the apparel industry, strengthening sustainability initiatives and supporting the country’s ambition to achieve $100 billion in garment exports by 2030.

He also emphasized the need for strong policy support, stable energy supply, and enhanced global branding of the “Made in Bangladesh” label to ensure continued growth of the sector.

BGBA leaders expressed optimism that under the new leadership, the association will work closely with industry stakeholders to further strengthen the garment buying house sector and enhance its role in Bangladesh’s apparel supply chain both locally and globally.
