With the aim of encouraging scientific thinking, creativity, and innovative ideas among young students, the “National Science Competition 2026” was organized by the Science & Research Club of Barishal Textile Engineering College (BTEC).
Organized by Science & Research Club, BTEC (SRCB) in collaboration with SheSTEM, the national-level competition brought together students from various textile institutions across the country.
The day-long event was held on Saturday, August 22, at the auditorium of Barishal Textile Engineering College. Students from different educational institutions, along with teachers, science enthusiasts, invited guests, and other individuals associated with the field, attended the event.
The chief guest was M. S. Zaman, Director of Mithila Group. Other distinguished guests included Mohammad Sohel Mahmud, General Manager of F.K. Textile Mills Limited; Khadijatul Kobra, Head of Merchandising at Tuli Trading Limited; and teachers from BTEC.
The competition featured several segments, including Article Writing, Innovation Video, and Textile Quiz. Participants also had the opportunity to explore exhibitions and live demonstrations related to textile science and technology, as well as present their innovative ideas.
The different rounds of the competition were judged by Mohammad Dulal Hossain, Zakaria Alam Ziku, Nusrat Jahan Tamanna, Mohammad Madsudur Rahman, and Abir Adhikari. The quiz segment was conducted by Elora Naz.
At one point during the event, Mohammad Dulal Hossain answered various questions from the students related to research.
The main objective of the event was to develop students’ interest in science and technology, encourage research and innovative thinking, and create a national platform for them to showcase their talent and creativity.
In today’s rapidly changing, technology-driven world, one of the key objectives of the event was to encourage students not to remain limited to textbook-based knowledge, but instead to engage in research, innovation, and practical thinking. Another important objective was to create opportunities for students from different parts of the country to exchange knowledge and experiences.
The invited guests encouraged the students to become more actively involved in science- and technology-based thinking, research, and innovative activities. They expressed hope that such national-level initiatives would play an important role in shaping the students’ future education and careers.
At the end of the competition, prizes and certificates of recognition were presented to the winners in various categories.
The authorities of the Science & Research Club said that they plan to continue organizing similar events in the future to further develop students’ talents, creativity, and innovative abilities.
