EPB halts publishing export data for next three months to rectify earlier mismatches
BTJ Desk Report
Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) will stop publishing export statistics for three months to investigate significant data discrepancies. This decision followed a meeting chaired by Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali, attended by key government officials and the Bangladesh Bank Governor.
Bangladesh Bank found that the actual export amount was at least $10 billion less than the figures published by the EPB up to May of the last financial year, prompting concerns about data accuracy. EPB, along with the Bangladesh Bank and the National Board of Revenue, will work to identify the cause of these discrepancies. The EPB will resume publishing monthly export data after resolving the issue.
