Sammilita Parishad has announced its panel for the Chattogram region ahead of the BGMEA biennial elections for the 2025–2027 term, during a post-Eid reunion event at the Chittagong Club recently.
SM Abu Tayyab, Managing Director of Independent Apparels Ltd, has been named panel leader, while Rakibul Alam Chowdhury of HKC Apparels Ltd will serve as a key team member. Other panel members include senior industry figures such as Anjan Shekhar Das (RSB Industrial Ltd), Mohammad Musa (Medina Fashions Ltd), Nafid Nabi (BSA Group), Syed Mohammad Tanvir (Pacific Jeans Group), and several others.
If elected, Abu Tayyab will become First Vice President of BGMEA and Rakibul Alam Chowdhury will serve as Vice President, while the rest of the panel members will take positions as directors for the Chattogram region.
During the event, speakers addressed the current challenges in Chattogram’s RMG sector and emphasized the importance of unity, transparency, and open dialogue among factory owners to ensure sustainable growth. The panel pledged responsible leadership and collective action to overcome sectoral hurdles.
The event was attended by prominent industry figures including former BGMEA Presidents Kazi Moniruzzaman and Faruk Hasan, along with former First Vice Presidents Ershad Ullah, SM Nurul Haque, and Sammilita Parishad’s leader Md Abul Kalam. The program was moderated by Syed Nazrul Islam, also a former first vice president. The BGMEA election is scheduled to take place on 31st May 2025.
