Palmal Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with AKS Hithium to accelerate the deployment of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across its manufacturing facilities, marking another important milestone in the Groupโs journey toward greater energy security, renewable energy utilization and industrial decarbonization.ย
The MoU was signed by ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ผ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฎ๐ด๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ถ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ ๐ฟ. ๐ก๐ฎ๐ณ๐ถ๐ ๐ฆ๐ถ๐ธ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฟ with AKS Hithium, with an initial ๐ฐ ๐ ๐ช๐ต ๐๐๐ฆ๐ฆ ๐บ๐ถ๐น๐ฒ๐๐๐ผ๐ป๐ฒ forming part of the collaboration.

The next step is to maximize the utilization of this renewable electricity through battery storage. Under the planned BESS strategy, surplus solar electricity will receive first priority for charging the batteries. When sufficient solar energy is unavailable, the batteries can also be charged from the electricity grid. The stored energy can then be utilized when required, helping reduce dependence on diesel-based backup generation.ย
The initiative is particularly relevant amid global fuel-market volatility and rising diesel prices, while also supporting Palmal Groupโs broader decarbonization objectives.ย
Speaking at the ceremony, ๐ ๐ฟ. ๐ก๐ฎ๐ณ๐ถ๐ ๐ฆ๐ถ๐ธ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฟ, Honorable Managing Director of Palmal Group, emphasized the Groupโs continued investment in practical solutions that strengthen energy security while reducing environmental impact. He highlighted Palmalโs journey from rice husk biomass boilers to rooftop solar and now battery storage, with the objective of maximizing renewable energy utilization and progressively reducing dependence on diesel.ย
According to the Managing Director, the objective is not simply to install batteries, but to develop a more integrated and intelligent energy management system across the factories. By combining solar, grid electricity and battery storage, Palmal Group aims to make better use of renewable energy, reduce diesel dependence and improve the resilience of its manufacturing operations.ย
Palmal Group plans to progressively deploy BESS across its factories, using the initial projects to build technical expertise and operational experience for wider implementation. By integrating biomass, rooftop solar, grid electricity and battery storage, the Group aims to build a more resilient, cost-efficient and lower-carbon energy system across its manufacturing operations.ย
