Bangladesh becomes a source of high-end apparel items for luxury brands

Bangladesh is becoming a trustworthy supplier and is growing as a sourcing destination for high-end apparel items for luxury brands, Bangladeshi media reported.
The reports also stated that despite the global supply chain disruption brought on by Covid-19 and the Russia-Ukraine war, luxury fashion manufacturers are turning to Bangladesh and high-end brands are looking for commercial prospects.
Recently, Hugo Boss AG sent top executives to Bangladesh to observe the country’s potential.
Speaking to the media, Atique Monir, COO of Fakir Fashion Ltd, expressed optimism and said that a four-person team from Hugo Boss, including the company’s senior vice president (buying), had visited their facility to look for business potential
Speaking to the media, BGMEA President Faruque Hassan said that a number of international luxury fashion brands are shifting their orders to Bangladesh from China and Vietnam and Bangladeshi suppliers have already gained their confidence.
US fashion brands are transferring their orders to Bangladesh from China due to geopolitical issues, as they find Bangladesh a reliable supplier, he added.
Bangladeshi companies are now producing jackets with a Free Board (FOB) price of $100 apiece, whereas earlier they were unable to accept orders for items costing more than $25 each.
DBL Group Vice-Chairman MA Rahim told the media that several high-end US clothing shops have been moving their orders to their companies over the past few months from China.
He also noted that they are creating clothing for some luxury labels that have switched from purchasing from China, like Ralph Lauren and Hugo Boss.
Zaber & Zubair Fabrics Fashion supplied some woven fabrics for Ralph Lauren-nominated factories, Deputy Manager (Business Development) Md Mosla Uddin Tipu told the media.
Moreover, premium brands like Dutch fashion brand G-Star RAW, and sportswear brand Puma, also consolidated their position in sourcing from Bangladesh.
