Three companies in the BEPZA economic zone at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpa Nagar in Chattogram have begun operations and exports. These firms are KPST Shoes (BD) Co Ltd, Fengqun Composite Material Company (BD) Ltd, and Kiaxi Lingerie Bangladesh Co Ltd—started earlier this year, exporting products worth $300,000 by June and creating over 1,500 jobs. Their combined investment totals $71.14 million.
These factories are producing a range of products including shoe accessories, packaging materials, and lingerie items. KPST Shoes focuses on shoe accessories, Fengqun Composite Material produces packaging items, and Kiaxi Lingerie specializes in lingerie and related materials.
Additionally, eight more factories are under construction, with two expected to start production soon. Bepza has signed contracts with 30 companies for plot allocations, involving a total investment plan of $706 million. However, further land allocation is on hold due to water supply issues needed for these factories.
