The LYCRA Company will showcase its renewable LYCRA® fibre and textile-to-textile recycling initiatives at the Textile Exchange Conference 2026, taking place October 12–16 at the Vancouver Convention Centre in Canada.

Under this year’s theme, “The Implementation Era,” the company will highlight sustainable material innovation and industry partnerships aimed at scaling circular textile solutions.

Renewable LYCRA® fibre contains 70% plant-based content, using primarily US-grown dent corn as a feedstock. According to a third-party-reviewed life cycle assessment, it can reduce its carbon footprint by up to 45% while maintaining stretch and recovery performance.

The company is also advancing technologies to recover spandex from pre-consumer textile waste and recycle it into new fibres. The initiative remains at the pilot stage, with further infrastructure development needed to scale production of LYCRA® fibre containing recycled content.

Alistair Williamson, vice president of product sustainability at The LYCRA Company, emphasised the importance of bringing renewable and recycled materials to commercial scale through collaboration across the textile value chain.

The company’s team will be available at booth 18 during the conference to discuss renewable materials, recycling technologies and opportunities for collaboration with brands, mills and other industry stakeholders.
